Throughout history, Dieulefit has been a refuge for those whose freedom or life was threatened. During the Second World War, this village welcomed and protected many exiles, thanks to the courage of its inhabitants, 9 of whom were recognized as Righteous Among the Nations .

These ordinary women and men refused to accept fate and took risks to preserve humanity and dignity, offering a timeless lesson in brotherhood.

A day of transmission, walking and memory

On October 25, 2025 , the Voix d'exils association invites you to honor their memory through a symbolic walking tour entitled "In the Footsteps of the Righteous." The departure will be given at 2:30 p.m., at the Promenades de Dieulefit parking lot, for a route punctuated by stories and key stages. At each stop, the history of the Righteous will come to life, reminding us how solidarity can change the course of destiny.

This route, accessible to all, encourages the discovery of local heritage and oral transmission, by involving participants in an active process of remembrance and reflection.

An event punctuated by highlights

At 6 p.m., the memory of the Resistance will be celebrated at the Poët-Laval community center, during a performance dedicated to Yvonne Oddon, an emblematic figure of the struggle and mutual aid. This highlight invites you to discover or rediscover an inspiring trajectory, embodied with emotion on stage.

A friendly atmosphere will also be on the agenda from 8 p.m. around a typical hot meal: the Supa Barbetta of the Exilés Vaudois, accompanied by picodon, dessert, and coffee. A special moment to chat, share memories, and hopes in a warm atmosphere.

This day promises to be rich in emotion and lessons, recalling the importance of collective memory and supporting people in exile. Voices of Exile provides an opportunity to reconnect with local history, celebrate human resilience, and explore the many facets of the notion of exile through varied and engaging activities.
