Program
This weekend, we will explore the history of the Huguenots on a group adventure! Together, we will explore the legacy left behind by the Protestants. Curious and dynamic adults will enjoy a break from everyday life with a change of scenery, discoveries, sharing, and humor.
Day 1: Valence / Aigues-Mortes / La Grande-Motte.
We will depart at 7:00 a.m. by luxury coach for Aigues-Mortes. Our first stop will be the Tour de Constance, a listed historical monument. This imposing medieval fortress, built under Louis XIV, is also an important site in Protestant history. Then, hop aboard the little train to explore the Salins du Midi. Between the salt flats, pink water, and salt-making traditions, you will experience a natural immersion that is as surprising as it is photogenic. Enjoy a lunch break at a local restaurant to sample regional flavors.
In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of a traditional Camargue ranch, where bulls and horses are bred. You will observe the daily lives of herdsmen on horseback and learn about cattle sorting techniques, branding demonstrations, and Camargue horse racing in a typical Camargue natural setting. The day ends with dinner at a seaside restaurant, followed by entertainment to enjoy with friends and family in a relaxed atmosphere! Spend the night in a three-star hotel and enjoy a well-deserved rest.
Day 2: La Grande-Motte / Mialet / Valence
Head to Mialet for a guided tour of the Musée du Désert, which traces the history of Protestantism in the Cévennes region from the revocation of the Edict of Nantes to the Revolution. The museum has more than 3,000 objects and documents relating to Huguenot clandestinity. For a more interactive, fun, and immersive experience, enjoy an escape game session. Have lunch at a typical guinguette.
In the afternoon, take a guided tour of the Salamander Cave, located in the heart of a spectacular chamber of concretions—the famous "Crystal Giants"—enhanced by appropriate lighting and sound effects.
Return to Valence in the late afternoon.
